Description
NAME: El Rey del Mundo Kon Tiki 1973 Edición Regional (Los Andes) 2017 n-50
An Edición Regional that was exclusively released for the Los Andes region, yet also paying homage to the eponymous maritime expedition led by Thor Heyerdahl and his five crew members in 1947. The 101-day trip took place across the Pacific Ocean in an exact replica of the large balsa wood raft that was said to be used by Kon-Tiki Viracocha, a native chef who sailed west from Peru.
Beautifully crafted with long filler tobaccos from the Vuelta Abajo region, and completely hand rolled into a unique format named 109, more commonly known as Double Robusto (7 1/4 x 50), with a tapered end. A format that only a handful of master torcedors are allowed to roll this format. This vitola was also used by La Gloria Cubana for its Swiss Regional Edition.
Presented in a 50-count wooden box, arranged in 4 levels (13-13-13-11), a presentation that originally appeared for the first time in the 1960s before disappearing 1973. The Kon Tiki 1973 name celebrates this unique arrangement for this release of 1,200 boxes worldwide.
A splendid smoke with smooth and fruity aromas to begin with and a gradual crescendo filled with enticing notes of cedar wood, chocolate, and nuts. Finishing with intense yet smooth roasted flavours.
