Cigars marketing and design were improved on the early 1900s, frequently displaying the royal crests and manually engraved masterpieces that are now naturally connected to premium cigars. A brand like—Lords of England—arrived to the American market at the turn of the 20th century. This luxurious brand is now in the hands of Isaias Santana Diaz, owner and founder of Pure Aroma Cigars Inc. (of D’Crossier Cigars fame). Working outside of the D’Crossier brand for the first time, Santana has moved from his Costa Rican/Dominican influences, now partnering with the extremely admired Tabacalera Perdomo factory (located in Estelí, Nicaragua) for production. Focusing on the capture of the refined-yet-punchy qualities of the original brand, Lords of England makes use of an all-Nicaraguan binder/filler recipe. The cigars are then wrapped with two varieties: Ecuadorian Connecticut and Mexican San Andrés wrapper. While the former serves to the mild palate, the latter—Lords of England Maduro—offers darker flavor nuances and a stronger body.
