TASTING NOTES: The H. Upmann Regalias is a size that has been available for decades, though had once been a machine-made vitola until becoming handmade in 2002. When announcing the Linea Retro line, Habanos S.A. said that the petit corona size is possibly the most popular format in the history of Habanos, adding that it has long been considered the standard size of cigars. It also noted that the Linea Retro concept will be gradually introduced to other brands in the portfolio.
H. Upmann’s blend is composed exclusively of filler and binder tobaccos grown in the Vuelta Abajo zone.
In the third of four planned releases that comprise the new Linea Retro from Habanos and, with H. Upmann’s signature light-to-medium blend, it is the lightest of the series to date. All four releases are Mareva size cigars (5 1/8” x 42) presented in retro tins of five, in a style much in fashion during the 1970s. Each pack is subtly different and the H. Upmann Regalias tin has a removable top, a yellow interior, and a curved edge reminiscent of a hipflask.
